Process

Just three basic steps. Plus an introduction.

Concept, Development, Production

Regardless of the size and scope of your Biograph project, the basic workflow is essentially the same.

Introduction
First, we determine what the Biograph is about and what format(s) it might best take. Even if you know this upfront, sometimes a little creative discussion can enhance not only the final piece, but also the process -- and the fun -- by which it is developed. This is typically achieved in an initial conversation or two for a flat fee. Our discussions allow me to produce recommendations and an estimate for the project, which we will discuss and adjust until your approval is given.

Concept
After this kickoff, the ideas settled upon are developed into a core concept for our review, discussion, adjustment, and approval. This might include a presentation of production ideas and samples, samples of the writing style that would be used, and design and layout examples.

Development
Once the core concept is articulated and identified, development begins. This may include interviews and conversations, whether in-person or via video conference, collecting old photos and source documents and such, secondary research to develop the context in which a family event or story took place, perhaps a photo shoot, and more. Of course, it also includes drafting and revising text and development of designs and layout -- whatever is needed to both gather the elements of the Biograph and ready it for production.

Production
The last stage of the process finalizes, produces, and delivers your Biograph to you, ensuring that it reads or sounds, looks and feels, exactly as you want.

While every Underwood Biograph follows this basic workflow, it also allows for organic growth and changes driven by the developing content, new ideas, and other factors that may arise throughout the creative journey. Ultimately, the extent of each of these steps depends on  the nature of your Biograph and what you envision and desire.

Importantly, your budget is openly managed throughout the process to ensure that you get the best value for your project and that you're delighted with your final Biograph.
